Features

What DDL delivers for barcode & labels

From code generation to warehouse scanning, all labeling processes in one platform.

Generate barcodes

Barcodes are generated automatically from the material workflow, no manual creation, no media breaks.

Custom label layouts

Customer-specific layouts, with different designs per product group when needed.

Print from desktop and handheld scanner

DDL supports label printing both from the desktop application and directly from the mobile handheld scanner in the warehouse. Labels can be printed exactly where they are needed.

Find materials and locations safely

Scanning with Zebra scanner or smartphone benefits from clear, unambiguous identification.

Warehouse location labels

Scan the location barcode, scan the slab barcode, done. Material-to-location assignment happens automatically.

Post-cut labels after cutting

Cut parts immediately receive their own barcode labels, printed automatically, without a separate post-processing step.

Workflow

From material to scannable label

Four steps from the data record to a productive barcode in the warehouse.

1

Capture material data

Slabs, blocks and parts are registered in the system with relevant data such as block, thickness, finish and dimensions.

2

Generate barcode

DDL generates the barcode automatically from the material record, for every slab, every block and every cut part.

3

Layout and print label

The label format is configured and printed directly, also as post-cut print immediately after cutting.

4

Scan and continue working

In the warehouse, during stocktaking or for shipping: labels are read by handheld scanner and trigger follow-up processes.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about barcode & labels

What is the difference between barcodes and QR codes in DDL?
Barcodes are printed on labels and serve internal warehouse processes such as stocktaking, relocation and material search. QR codes are a separate feature in the desktop application: they link to the online gallery and can be printed e.g. on a slab at a trade show to give customers access to the digital inventory.
Can I adapt the label format?
Yes. DDL builds custom label layouts per customer. Where needed, different layouts per product group can be set up, e.g. one layout for natural stone and another for ceramics.
Can DDL print labels after cutting?
Yes. The process supports post-cut printing, so cut parts immediately receive their own barcode labels.
How do warehouse location labels work?
Each warehouse location gets its own barcode label. When storing material, the location barcode is scanned first, then the slab barcode, the assignment of material to location happens automatically.
Where can I print labels from?
Barcode labels can be printed both from the desktop application and directly from the mobile handheld scanner in the warehouse. Scanning is done either with a Zebra handheld scanner or with the smartphone camera.
